I don't blame anyone one bit for being emotional today, even the fans. Not like we knew the guy but we followed and watched him for many years and you get attached to the players.
Just a brutal tough day.

We all feel like we knew Johnny. We watched him develop as an NHL star. All the stories from Connie going to the Gaudreau home to sign Johnny and assure his parents he would be looked after in Calgary. Seeing his first goal, his year with the "find-a-way" flames, his special plays and fast feet. The whole City adopted Johnny and his parents and siblings and Uncle! We saw his talent blossom in front of us, we saw Hudler help develop Johnny and Monny that first full season. And then the exciting but too brief, playoff series runs with a win against Vancouver, and then most recently beating Dallas. We felt sad when he left Calgary, but we still loved Johnny. So now we all have a hole inside us from a true loss, that can can only be partially filled with the good memories that Johnny created and left behind for us.
