Further into Madam Web....this is not a finished movie. It has a 2 hour run time and is filled with all sorts of scenes/material that should have been edited out. The dialogue seems to totally break down at points, with junior high play levels of exposition of plot points. I guess there were a lot of reshoots, where they took out the references to the 90s and changed the time period the movie was set in. Maybe they took out plot points and had to clumsily put them back in? Some of it is really weird, almost Family Guy jumping point style exposition.
Apparently Sony had planned to turn this into its own franchise. I have no idea how anyone could look at this "finished" project and think it would be a success. Like this is Andy Samberg and Bill Hader walking into Lorne Michaels office pitching Laser Cats levels of delusion. I liked the energy from the first 30 minutes or so, but then the movie slowly breaks apart into a total mess.
