If they get an injury to either goalie they will need to send on of their 20 non-goalies down to the AHL to make cap space to bring up an AHL goalie.

Their cap space is somewhat contingent on not getting many injuries in the first 3-4 months of the year if Kane is getting that surgery. If one of their goalies goes out for any period of time in the first 3-4 months they are effectively down to a 21 man roster. A bad run of injuries and they will be using a 15 man roster like the Flames did when Sutter was GM.
They are effectively on a 21 man roster right now. Puckpedia is showing 22 players on the active roster (13-7-2) including Kane. With that is cap space of ~946k, which would translate into ~4m aav cap value available at deadline. But add even their cheapest waivers eligible player and it's less than 200k, which translates into under 1m available at the deadline.

So any one injury puts them at 20 players and if it is a goalie, then there is no option but to call one up meaning goodbye cap space accrual. Multiple injuries and it's into LTIR which would mean they traded Ceci for the cap flexibility of no flexibility at the deadline.
