It was a big win for him and I understand the temptation to pretend he didn't know what happened. That said he should have realized the video would always be there as would the questions of how he couldn't know. Roddick said that he absolutely had to know and it's just one of those things where sometimes it's human nature to take the bad call in your favor even when you know it's the wrong call. I've been a part of enough doubles matches where it comes up sometimes that your partner has a better angle/view on a shot they call out even though you and your opponents thought it was in. Unless it's egregious, I find it hard to overrule my partner if they had the better view/angle even if the opponents aren't happy.
