You make some points and while I kind of agree with you, remember the 'they go low, we go high' strategy? It lost.
What harris and walz are doing now is to immediately ridicule him. Not defend the false statement with all kinds of evidence, but just simply point and laugh. It can be effective. They have definitely gained more social media traction.
