If they get an injury to either goalie they will need to send on of their 20 non-goalies down to the AHL to make cap space to bring up an AHL goalie.

Their cap space is somewhat contingent on not getting many injuries in the first 3-4 months of the year if Kane is getting that surgery. If one of their goalies goes out for any period of time in the first 3-4 months they are effectively down to a 21 man roster. A bad run of injuries and they will be using a 15 man roster like the Flames did when Sutter was GM.
Whilst I was contemplating whether younger or older players are more or less likely to get injured, and whether oilies fans will be patting themselves on the back for veteran “discounts” at that point, I decided that it probably won’t matter as the glitter twins will play half of the time and get all of the premium opportunities.
