The Sharks have been making numerous high picks lately and will do so again this year regardless of this deal. At some point you need to start rounding out your roster out of the building phase.
There is also huge value here for the Sharks in getting Askarov now in his development curve versus looking to draft and develop someone else that may be 4-5-6 years away from NHL ready. Get him into games this year and hope he's ready to perform at a high level next season. Nothing they have given up here will effect their rebuild in any big way.
