They have a lot of good prospects but for a team tanking this hard they have 0 extra 1sts now.
Lots of holes on the team and not all prospects pan out, for a team that has been at the bottom for years they aren't set up that well.
Edstrom and that 1st are both very valuable pieces. I get that some are looking at it like that is what they got for Hertl, but they did retain salary for 6 years to get that quality return. If the plan is to rebuild for 6 more years, why not keep the future assets over a prospect that is NHL ready now as well.
I still think SJ could use another top 3 pick. I also could see Vegas missing the playoffs if LA and Vancouver play well. Demko injuries might make it easier for Vegas to make it through.
It's just an overpay IMO considering the situation.
