Like next year the Stars have Bourque and Johnson up for contract. Suspect teams will start to try to lock these guys down well in advance but if it is late July and they have not locked those guys down you could roll the same play. RFA compensation will go up next year so say a 3rd is 2.4 and a 2nd is 4.8, you could offer the following

Bourque - 2 years at 2.4 (compensation a 3rd round pick)
Johnson - 2 years at 4.8 (compensation a 2nd round pick)

You might get one of them given the other players Dallas has to sign and how tight to the cap they are, especially if they do what teams usually do and get a bunch of old guys on July 1st and leave the RFA’s until later.

Johnston will be getting a Beniers deal if he has another good season.
