Being drafted by an NHL team is totally different than any other circumstance in regards to a career. The analogy of being the same as training for years for a certain job and not getting to choose the firm you go to doesn’t fly. Hockey is a spectator sport, and their salaries are paid by the FANS. If you don’t like the team that drafts you, you are free to go elsewhere when you’re 26. Until then, you can damn well report for duty.
By the way Americans, this is OUR sport that WE invented and Canada still accounts for a huge chunk of NHL revenue, which is what your salaries are based on.
