That is until I waited over 2 minutes in line. There was only one person manning (are we still allowed to say that?) the till for a lineup of 3 people! Unbelievable. Of course two others are working. One is going on about paying for college. The other seems to be making coffee, or at least making it look like it (everybody ordered drip and avoided those absurd pumpkin concoctions so it couldn’t have difficult).
When I finally got to the front of the line and saw the tip prompt, I was shocked.
I asked the girl if she thought she deserved a tip, and whether perhaps she might lower the price of the drinks if she really thought anyone should pay even more for this level of “service.”
Then I looked at the one standing there chatting, and said “Here’s a tip: want to pay for college? Learn how to make a cup of coffee! It’s not going to pour itself with you just standing there!”
Everybody clapped.
