Punk is a mark for his own work too, but not quite at the level of Bret. Bret was an incredible worker, maybe the best to lace them up... Yet the way he talks makes it seem like he was the only one in the ring for many of his matches.

Punk and Bret are from the same cloth. Is Bret a narcissist? I don't know if that's too strong of a word. I'd say he's very old school, and he see's himself as a bit of a guardian of the game.
He's also pretty fiercely protective of his name and reputation.
Bret also has had some very negative things happen to him in the game that have made him a bit bitter.
I don't think what he says about Hogan, Eric, Vince Russo and Michaels is without merit.
