its actually not a terrible trade for either side. Columbus needed to to move him (if you believe all the reports) and they were able to get rid of him and all of his 9M hit for a second. Plus they got a defenseman.
Montreal is taking some risk here since they need him to bounce back somewhat to make it work. but they got an extra second as insurance.
