I'm not even going to pretend that I know how Oilers management operates, although your assertion there seems to make sense to me.
So...is the general thinking here that the Oilers Management thought they had these two in the bag and just weren't worried about them?
For instance, I look at the Flames and Conroy's activity this season, and he clearly had a list, and checked it twice, but there was a priority and order to his actions.
For instance, Zadorov was annoyed that he wasn't getting any communication, because he was lower on Conroy's list and the GM had other things to take care of before he got to Zadorov until his hand was forced.
And you can make similar cases for several other guys that were shown the door.
