If its any consolation it does seem to moving in this direction in Canada but there is still the fringe that are wackos, like most professions and jobs. Ah well. It is funny how much more this bothers me than it does my wife. We discussed this and she said she gets the positive reinforcement everyday from most of her clients, is busier than she can handle and knows she runs her practice the right way. Ah well. I hope your research and teaching can help to spread some light to counter the 'dark side' so the profession can grow, even if you don't self identify as a member.

I'll never admonish anyone who understands how to deal in science and data, so you and I are probably square (although I am assuming a lot about your position), but I've been on the fence for a long time, really since I graduated. I had hope because throughout the last few years I heard very little anti vaccine rhetoric from chiros, hoping that perhaps many had learned a valuable lesson about infectious diseases. But nope, the last few days made me realize that this is an anti-intellectual cult, and I want no part of it anymore.
It sucks, because there are a lot of good things in chiropractic such as advocating for nutrition, exercise, healthy lifestyle, and even some cutting edge science. But that all is for naught if you continue to demonize what is perhaps the greatest public health measure of all time, and especially continue to ignore mounds and mounds of data. It's stupid, and I'm done with it.
