I don’t know how the NHL would handle this given that it’s a plan designed to circumvent the “can’t trade an offer-sheeted player” rule.

So is this the Oilers telling the Blues we don't want your second and will find someone else who'll give us something like a 5th with added certainty that the asset has zero upside?
