There’s conspiracy theory over in HF:

A.) Oilers will trade a very low draft pick to the Sharks to reacquire Kostin (currently a RFA)

B.) Oilers will match on Broberg and immediately place him on waivers

C.) SJ is first priority for waiver pickups so they’d pick up Broberg

Essentially Broberg for Kostin and cap savings while screwing over the Blues.

I don’t know how the NHL would handle this given that it’s a plan designed to circumvent the “can’t trade an offer-sheeted player” rule.
