One of odd things when I was listening to his speech was the chants. By
far the loudest chant was "WE LOVE TRUMP!" followed by "Fight, fight, fight!".
The only other chant was "drill, baby, drill", but it was nowhere near the first one, and it was directly related to his speech, unlike those two other chants which at least had the appearance of being spontaneous. It's odd when you think about it
Chants in political rallies are as much a message to your opponent as it is to your own people. (No different from most sports chants in that way.) You're shouting at the world to tell it what you want.
Things like "we're not going back" make a lot of sense as chant, it's what the people shouting it want. Shouting your candidates name makes sense. Its shorthand for "we want this guy to win". "Drill baby drill" makes sense, it's a simplification of a policy platform. Even "lock her up" makes sense, it's
something they wanted to happen.
But "we love x"? That's
weird as a chant in a supposed political rally, especially at this point. (Less weird if it's the start or the end of a campaign.)
You don't normally chant for things you already have. (Unless you just got it, like "we are the champions".)
It gave me a feeling that these people are feeling insecure, about loving Trump, and about their chances of winning. The latter of course makes sense right now, but still... just "fight"? The fight itself is the main thing? Not "Make America great again" or anything else?
Idk, very much a sidebar, sorry. Slow day at work.
