From Friedman's podcast:
Broberg was asking for $1.8 mil per and Holloway was asking for $1.2 mil per from the Oilers
Blues timed offer sheet so that Edmonton could not trade for a player with an arbitration case and open up a 2nd buyout window
The Oilers did try to sign Broberg and Holloway during the season. Friedman isn't sure about Holloway, but Broberg was not going to re-sign mid season.
He believes the Oilers became aware of Blues interest in Broberg and Holloway during trade talks for Buchenvich before the Blues extended Buchnevich
Expects Oilers will take time and look at all options
People feel that Holoway is the easier match because he has played with the star players and lower cap hit.
Friedman believes the hold up on Evander Kane's surgery was which doctor was going to preform the surgery and when they are available to do said surgery.
Kane will be gone longer than 1 or 2 months but no one is sure if the injury will keep him out until playoffs.
May have to LTIR Kane and deal with the cap when he comes back from injury.
This will bring new life to the Ceci rumors. Edmonton may be forced into a Ceci trade now
Stauffer has suggested Oilers may look at Calgary's d-men but Friedman has heard the Flames have told their guys they will be quiet this summer. But that may change if they make an offer the Flames can't refuse
