I don't know what the going rate is right now given it's late August and it's not a great time to make a trade, but leaving it for the next real trading window (i.e. late in training camp) is a major risk and probably leads to a worse return simply due to teams knowing they have you by the balls.

But I generally agree with the nature of the trades you're suggesting. The benefit of the RNH move is that they actually HAVE to get something back here - either in the trade that gives them this cap space, or elsewhere. Because they won't have Kane and they'll need a couple of bodies after moving someone out.

I think the best option is probably to do the Ceci thing and hope you can land one of the players who inevitably gets traded in September when it becomes clear they're going to end up on waivers anyway.
