He was a 5/6 at best, and a 6/7 more realistically at worst.
By eating up $2.5AAV for two years, and playing 33 games. By paying lip service that he would re-sign and wanted to stay in Calgary, when if he was more forthcoming like Tkachuk, we could've tried to flip him at the deadline.
No one said that. Nice hyperbole. But, the honorable thing would've been to accept a discounted show-me contract, and give back to the Flames organization who handled it better than most other teams would have.
