By eating up $2.5AAV for two years, and playing 33 games. By paying lip service that he would re-sign and wanted to stay in Calgary, when if he was more forthcoming like Tkachuk, we could've tried to flip him at the deadline.
These two positions feel inconsistent with each other. If he's just an unreliable 6/7 defenceman, what on earth would the Flames have been able to flip him for at the trade deadline? A 6th round pick maybe? That seems like an awfully low threshold for a "screw job".
