I get that, but why are houses all of a sudden a limited resource? Why can't we just build more houses?

"You get a house! You get a house! Everyone gets a house!"

But seriously, if I have money, what am I supposed to do with it? I want a place where I can go on vacation and on weekends. Why is it so bad to buy a second property? When did it become such a Herculean task to just build more houses? Do we really want to be putting limits on what people can and cannot spend their money on? Why am I a problem? Heck, my first place I bought in Canmore they hadn't even broke ground on when I laid down my deposit. They weren't going to build until they were sold. Didn't I contribute to adding homes to Canmore with that purchase?

And what about hoarding multiple houses? What about the guy with a mansion?

I have a 1400sf house in Calgary and 1000sf condo in Canmore. That's for my family of four. That's 600sf per person. Surely that's not some egregious and greedy monopolization of limited living space in Canada, is it?

If I bought a 2400sf house in Calgary nobody would blink. Instead, I split my living space into two areas. It honestly doesn't seem unreasonable to me.
