While it feels logical to us the schism this would cause in the Us is massive. Basically New York and California would determine each election. Zero chance the small states would cede the importance they currently hold over the entire process. The change I think that makes more sense is some sort of proportional allocation by state as to the electoral votes according to actual votes garnered. Right now a single vote victory nets you all of the electoral votes in almost every state, which is odd to me.
