I would agree with you, except I don't feel that Poirier holds enough value right now to make it more interesting to trade him rather than to keep him.

Having Parekh on the top pairing, Brzustevicz on the second pairing, and Poirier on the third (and assuming they all develop well) gives the Flames a lot of options on the PP, and provides the Flames with high-end puck-movers from the back end who are able to transition quickly, as well as help generate offence.

He was weirdly ranked as having the "third best hands" in his entire draft class. He was a boom/bust pick, and I don't think he has boomed enough to build any sort of tangible value to make me want to trade him out yet, and those other defencemen won't be arriving until the 2025-26 season.

Solovyov will be on the team this year given his waiver status. After that, I think Poirier will be the 1st call-up for injuries, and I bet he plays 10 or more games this season, and more if he shows well. I think given Poirier's value vs his potential upside, I would rather hold onto him for at least this upcoming season, if for no other reason than to simply get a bit more information as to what his floor and ceiling may be at the NHL level.
