It seems like they can't catch a break with their history of animal deaths. However, this time their crisis management has been commendable. The communication, messaging, and transparency have been notably effective.
I was initially worried when they announced their vet would perform a necropsy, but relieved to learn they also had a third-party evaluation.
It's a tragic incident, but it's good to see the zoo taking responsible steps to at least address it.

They had a bad run a while ago, culminating in the death of the pool of sting rays. But there were others as well, that seemed to be caused by some level of human error.

But I think things are much better now. This is obviously horribly tragic but I think on the whole there isn't the pattern of issues that perhaps there once was.
