Blaming 'socialists', 'communists', 'lefties' (although most people are centre, not left, but they don't seem care) or basically anybody but themselves, is a time-honoured conservative/right-wing tradition. When Prentice said for people to 'look in the mirror', the right had a critical syntax error in their brains from such a verbal audacity, and that's why he lost.
