Interesting thread. I don't have any tattoos yet, because I think they really need to have some meaning, considering it is on there for the rest of your life. I almost got a dolphin & anchor tattoo towards the end of my time with the Naval Reserve, but the guy wouldn't ink me at the time I wanted it because he said I was too drunk.
I agree that there are way too many people with tribal tattoos on their arms (or lower back

) because it is the "in" thing to do. I think it makes them look like a lemming, and believe it borders on disrespectful.
And don't get me started on people who have Asian characters tattooed on them who are not even remotely Asian. Reminds me of a story I read where the whole office had totally convinced this (white) girl that her new Asian tattoo meant "BBQ Pork" or something like that; they even Photoshopped and reprinted a Chinese take-out menu with her tattoo characters beside one of the menu items.
