For that reason, there isn't the vitriol against change. Lack of change is just baked into the town due to National Park rules versus foaming-at-the-mouth residents.

In Canmore, many residents think they, their town and their town's history is god's gift to the environment and can only exist under their strict stewardship. They're the dumbest people I've ever encountered. You can point to abandoned coal mining shafts, undermining risks and half a mountain they fkn blew up that's an absolute eyesore running parallel to the highway (north side) and they'll just look at you and squawk about not wanting a new grocery store (that's desperately needed). Run coal tailings into the river...heey, that's the past. Propose positive changes for the future? fK yOu CaLgArY bOy.

My favourite are these dopes that have huge houses along the main bike/walking path along the river. They all had "Don't Pave Paradise" signs and bellyached non-stop about paving this one section of path last year (the other 90% is already paved). Heaven forbid we make the path safer and more accessible for people. Nope, you're paving paradise and it affects my enjoyment of my jacuzzi on my wrap-around patio in my 3500sf cabin I go to for two nights a month.

I can't imagine getting buy in to alter the town because too many people think it was absolutely perfect the day they moved in and anything anybody wants done to change it after that magical date is blasphemous.
You ever sit back and think if maybe you are the one who is wrong?
