Do many people actually know much about Harris?
I'm definitely more informed than most Americans on their politics, but I know almost nothing about her, and have never heard more than a soundbite.
I'm saying this as I suspect there are a lot of people who actually don't know much about her, haven't heard her debate or give a speech, and have a somewhat open mind.
Now knowing nothing about something doesn't matter to many people, and I'd guess 60% of americans either love or hate her already and nothing will change their mind.
But I bet there's a big number of people that will be open to learn about her and see how she performs.
The point of this is that it seems logical that how she performs in debates and speeches will have an outsized impact on her polling numbers compared to past canddiates and elections.
