I don’t know anything about Draisaitl’s personality off ice. We all know what he’s like on ice.

If you got to the end of your career, and your “pal” made $4 million per year more for 16 years (previous 8 years plus next 8), that’s $64 million USD. There is no way that anyone could or would leave that money on the table. That’s the equivalent of an 8 year $8 million contract.

So regardless of draisaitl’s personality, he’d have to be really stupid to settle for below market. I don’t think he’s an idiot and even if he is, he’s got an agent to protect his interests.

There’s not going to be a discount.

Besides that, the hallmark movie of the week income will dry up at some point!
