I have realized that people don't actually care that the position is held by someone who actually has the capability of running it, and instead its like cheering for a hockey team. No matter what, your team is good and the other team (the oilers), suck, are terrible, no good, etc. Even if they make it to finals.
Essentially every important metric for the past 4 years has shown that he is not only capable of running the country - with the infrastructure he has around him, anyway - but far better at it than the vast majority of people who have held the job. What he's not capable of doing, apparently, is winning an election.

As for not holding a press conference, I would assume the reason is that an 81 year old with COVID does not make a good appearance and instead of talking about the things Democrats would like the news to talk about, him holding a press conference would result in them talking about how pale and sick he looks and replaying slow motion footage of him sniffling like they did with debate clips. Again, politics is what dictates these decisions in the run up to an election.

This should all be pretty obvious. I don't know who the "cover up gang" is but that earlier poster is right; you need to get a tighter grip on your horses.
