The author also mentions values. Well there's another problem. Religions imposing unalterable unquestionable values on society that have little basis on fact or reason, but are now fundamental parts of so many people's value systems that are in direct conflict with a free and fair society. People don't just change values, even when they are fundamentally evil, because they were formed as such a deep rooted part of their beliefs when they were so young that they could be imprinted. But no one wants to have these discussions, because how dare you question religion and values and discriminate against their beliefs.
I think the window is closing on any chance of stopping this, given how deep the US government and it's politicians are so deeply infused with religion, how it is one and the same to them, their government, their roles, their society all wrapped in god.

When do you think the ‘good times’ were in America? The 60s and 70s? Because Americans were even more religious then.
And just a reminder that the most religious demographic in the U.S is Black women.
