I have a fully electric car (MachE), and we just use the 120V outlet in the garage. We drive ~9 km round trip to work every day. We burn ~3-5% of the batter in a round trip and get 1-1.5%/hr charging at home, so we never need to charge elsewhere for our normal driving.
You may want/need one depending on how far you're driving each day, but honestly, give it a try without for a while to see if it's worth it/if you need it.

I have had it a for a couple of weeks now, our current commute is 50km round trip so plugging in @120V works fine unless we want to go somewhere after work that's a bit more of a trip.
Just examining options.
