Norris, IMO, really ####ed that up.
He had the faster car after the pit stops and had he followed team orders early, they likely would have allowed him to race for the win. The team didn’t want their undercutting of Piastri to be the determining factor and if Norris gave up the position, he almost certainly would have overtaken him before the end of the race. By waiting until the end to give up position, overtaking Piastri would have looked bad and, as a result, he basically handed Piastri the win.
Just a messy drama that was a lot of fun to watch.
