Pretty significant. The first elections won’t be fake. They will be slanted disenfranchising people. The next election will still be contested on relatively fair terms.
big companies will step in and ensure that a more or less real democracy is maintained for business purposes. And by real democracy I mean one like the current one where business interests are routinely placed above the individual regardless of who wins.
Because when we start talking about fake elections I think you need to compare it to the level of representation currently offered. This isn’t a jump from one extreme to another. Trumps small step forward over this term doesn’t meaningfully change the current oligarchy that exists.
