Hell's Kitchen provides cheap laughs and it is enjoyable for the melodrama, but it makes it kind of hard to take seriously as a real cooking contest.
Top Chef and Iron Chef are better to watch if you actually want to see chefs with a clue.

I enjoy Bobby Flay's "Throwdown" as well - though Flay himself kinda irritates me.
