That's the thing.
There is a reason why Hollywood films with a patriotic themes always do well at the box office no matter how mediocre of bad the film really is. It pulls at the heart strings of many Americans and gets them off the couch. The images produced yesterday are likely to have a similar effect IMO. It doesn't matter how bad Trump is, surviving an assassination attempt will be portrayed as cool, and a lot of people just want to be with what is cool in that moment. It's not that hard to manipulate dumb people.
My hope is that with people's short attention span and how quickly the news cycles, that by November, the effect is diminished.
