It probably really depends on where you live and maybe time of day, but I have had to call the non emergency number more times than I would have liked. I have had to report multiple break-ins (vehicles and business - probably at least a dozen times), I called before to have a drunk removed from my business, I once called to report a wasted person disrupting traffic, and one time I was hiking and found random children's clothes in the bush (like a whole outfit, dress, shoes, and underwear - super creepy to find in the middle of nowhere). This was in both Ottawa and BC, and I can honestly say that I never had to wait on hold or wait long for them to send someone out. With the guy disrupting traffic, it was almost an immediate response, just as if 911 was called. Just my personal experience, not saying it doesn't happen to others.

The only thing that is kind of pain is having to look up the number. 911 is just so easy to remember.
