As a general argument, you wouldn't (or, you shouldn't).
However, if a situation arises where a player is actually worth the contract, and the only reason they're available is because the host team is the one in a cap crunch, and the acquisition cost is reasonable, then why not?
Blindly applying general rules to situations, without considering context, is no way to manage
anything.
