This is what it comes down to:
1. The Flames do not need a roster player more than they need a second round pick (particularly their own second, which figures to be early). If anything, they should be trading roster players for more picks, not the other way around.
2. If they did need a roster player more than they needed a second rounder (which, again, they do not), they could get a better player than Holloway for one.
