Now we know.
Spoiler!
And I've been saying it forever, the Jedi are misguided villains that believe that they are the sole protectors and users of the force.
And interesting episode, not a great one, but it bridges the gap leading up to Epsiode 8.
But we saw how flawed Sol is, he is so desperate for a Padawan and that and his and his parties arrogance about their place in the force leads to tragedy, and their destruction in about 100 years.
Somehow he created a narrative from watching the ceremony after breaking into the Witches home and the use of Mae's use of the word sacrifice to jump to a conclusion basically that these witches did not have these childrens best interest at heart.
Meanwhile the other Jedi showed flaws as well. Master Indara is trapped by indecision and the need to be given orders by the Jedi Council, at the same time her Padawan is deeply flawed as he see's no value in their mission to find a Vergence in the Force (Remember this kids it goes back to the Phantam Menace).
Remember what Yoda said about adventure and excitement and that a Jedi does not crave these things.
As for the Wookie, while the other Jedi had strong enough will power to resist he was easily taken over by the Witches.
But Sol is the perpetrator of a great evil, he lept to so many conclusions that he believed no matter what he saw that the Jedi temple and his guidance was needed for the girls, and in one moment of arrogance and mistaken interpretation led to the death of the Girls mother.
So yes, the Jedi were responsible for the death of the witches, not Mae, and then the Jedi would perpetrate that lie to the Jedi Council and Osha putting the blame squarely on the shoulders of a little girl.
Master Sol is not just a flawed person and Jedi, but he's a villain, because he continued to lie to Osha long after the fact and allowed the blame to continue to fall on Mae's shoulder.
While this episode hasn't done anything to real move forward the Sith story line, it does create interesting possibilities.
Mae has been conflicted about her connection to the Sith and the Dark side, but she's driven by revenge and guilt. But what's going to happen when Osha finds out that her sister was not the killer, but was a victim of the Jedi who carried on the lie.
Its possible that we're going to get the switcheroo, and that Osha at the end of this season, series, whatever, will end up being a fully committed Sith Acolyte, and might carry out vengeance on Sol.
