On that note, I generally don't like female announcers purely for their voice. It often sounds at a higher octave to me. My daughter said that often the problem is the sound guys don't adjust the equipment properly, so it highlights the 'higher' notes. This may make sense, but when I hear an NBA or NFL female announcer or even Hazel on the Jays broadcast, it does not sound like that to me. Maybe they are better or have different voices or the sound people are better. (Maybe the above is just to avoid the casual misogyny accusations, but I do judge by my experience listening and not by gender.)
However, Sandra does not have that effect at all. I have not heard her much but just on the Youtube stream, with likely substandard equipment, she sounded really good. Smooth, controlled and a good play-by-play. I am really impressed. I would be fine if she made the jump to replace Ball.
