I'm not against trading Coleman, and I'd also be happy to be proven wrong on his trade value. But this idea of "strike when the iron is hot" on Coleman I think is a bit of a falacy. He's a super useful player, one that would be a great fit on any team, but I also don't think GMs around the league are going to be fooled as to what he actually is.
By that I mean, people aren't actually going to be fooled into him being both a 30 goal scorer and the great two way player he is for your 3rd line. And at 3 years left and almost $5M cap hit, I doubt you get a haul for that player. I doubt the valuation on him has shifted from strong 3rd line player you'd "like" to add for a playoff run, to "value contract top 6 forward". He's not going to get the haul we'd like to think with 3 years left.
