Go through a rural part of a state like NC, VA, and WV, and you'll see all sorts of anti-immigration propaganda. There is absolutely no chance that immigrants are not going to find their towns take their jobs and rape their children, but they sure are convinced it is a big problem for them.
It's disheartening that it is a message that works so well in so many places in the world. People sure seem to have a strong belief that the fluke of where they were born entitles them and only them to be in a country.

I don't know about raping all the children, that might be a messaging thing. In reality, building of infrastructure has come to a screaching halt in comparison to population growth, and that has caused most of the friction concerning immigration. I think that the other pressing point (outside of America) is that unlike the melting pot, immigrants are dropped into a new country with very little in the way of education on the social and political norms of that country, so we are getting a lot of the problems associated with a series of isolated immigrant communities that are very insular.
