So they tell Kane to stay on LTIR until they have space (either by putting other players on LTIR or just until playoffs). I know everyone likes to say they can’t do that but we all know it happens (Tampa, Vegas, etc.) - we really don’t need to have that argument any more. Teams use LTIR to manipulate the cap and create teams with rosters way over the cap come playoffs. They’ll be able to say to Kane either you do this or we buy you out… which means you get less money overall (because likely no one else will sign you) and no chance at a cup run.
