Agreed. That unprotected first round pick has huge potential value in the coming years.
The only potential save for the Knights’ future is that I could see them getting LTIR-relief and using that cap space to sign some new star players in free agency - especially because they are a desired destination for lots of players. I could see Stone LTIR-retiring as early as next summer, Pietrangelo as early as the summer of 2026 and Eichel as early as the summer of 2027.
The potential cap space from them retiring could be used to sign Draisaitl and/or McDavid… saving them from bottoming out.
