I don’t think so. It’s clear he had more than a few other targets today, and didn’t hit on any of them.
I think he wants to show fans, players, and STH that they will put an acceptable product on the ice and if you can’t sign them, use the assets of cap space and picks to take decent overpaid players on expiring contracts via trade.
July 1 really is the best day of the summer to send that message with all eyes on things.
So probably working a trade or two to achieve that.
