As soon as the two best players on the team abandoned ship after a trip to the second round, any chance of the old “core” sticking around went with them.
But as you say, for the right offer he should’ve been able to sign one of them or some of them.
That he wasn’t/didn’t tells you about the sort of offers he was making, as well as the desire of all these UFAs to remain on a bottom-5 roster.
