Most seem to be giving the flames credit for going for HIGH ceiling offensively skilled guys, where as in years past and for many decades it seems the Flames always went for big/higher floor depth guys.

The Flames have had high ceiling guys before.
Rasmus was a high ceiling guy who had nutrition and fitness issues
Mangiapane was a high ceiling guy who put up serious points in junior
Kylington was a high ceiling guy
Fox led the US Under 18 team in defensive scoring in his draft year.
So they did go for some high end guys and mixed in some bust big guys. But their biggest problem was that from 2015 through this year they had an organizational philosophy to trade all the picks. So less opportunity to draft high end guys.
